Behind the Photo #2

Taken in July, 2006, this is an 87-second exposure overlooking Lake Bellaire.  This was probably the first time I realized just how fast the Earth rotates, as you can see how much the stars move in only a minute and a half.  Also, if you look towards the top of the picture above the moon (yes, that's the moon), you can see the very first meteor I captured in a picture!
The location I shot from this night has since been blocked off, much to my dismay.  It was intended to be a hillside subdivision, but I guess the properties never sold, because there's now a big steel gate closing off the road to it.  It was a very peaceful spot where I often went to shoot thunderstorms and to feel small under a huge sky.
